I recorded these three radio ID jingles off-air from WNEW as received in Boston in 1988.

  • The greatest station of all time. I grew up in NY listening to Ted Brown, Willie B, Jonathan Schwartz, Jim Lowe, Bob Jones, etc. I have an interview with Jim Lowe here on YouTube. Thanks for posting.

  • Glad you like it, nice to see there is some following out there for this old station..

  • Listen to Ted saying "The Pride of New York", it really was. Damn corporate greed for taking it away.

  • My parents favorite radio station for all their lives!

  • Amazing to read these posts. My Dad was John Van Buren (a/k/a Jack) Sullivan, President & General Manager of WNEW in the late 50's and 60's (and 1 of the brains behind WNEW-FM.) I grew up in the station with Ted Brown, Willie B., Klavan & Finch (and Rayburn), Jim Lowe, Marty Glick, Al DeRogatis, Kyle Rote & the NY Giants. Great to know others still remember ... there's only one.....

  • Thanks for posting, check out some of my WNEW postings too. Love that jingle and miss the station so much.

  • aw...I miss this station too. Grew up listening to it in the 1980's. Even after it became WQEW for a short while, it was worth listening to. It's a shame radio like this isn't around anymore. Thankfully, we have the internet.....

  • cool man, cool!

  • Well, nonetheless, I liked that video, too. Thanks for posting it. :-)

  • I wouldn't say they were radio "jingles", but rather "Musical Signatures"... That's just my opinion.

In any event, I am impressed that you were able to save a little piece of radio history in your archives! I have taped radio jingles beginning in 1991, but those tapes were either erased or destroyed! I still have a piece of radio history dating back to 1997, though. I will post some goodies on my DBRadioDaytonOH account soon! :-)
