NG15 No17 (normally based on the Sandstone Estates) is seen leaving Port Elizabeth with the Avontuur Adventurer. A bit of slipping before the sanders are applied. (Original footage with permission fof Dave Kent) NG15 No 134 is being restored in Wales - see: www.ng15-134.co.uk

  • Hi the loco keep on slipping becuase I forget to fill the sand boxes, I have the original video of that whole trip.

  • Nice of you to get in touch. I aquired the footage from Dave Kent assuming it was his. Looking at it I thought it was more a case of trying to get them working as you did seem to regain traction as if the sanders started just before the bridge.

  • Great video. Been there, done that ,when hauling another NRZ garratt up the incline to coaling tower set-back points, from the shed, on a wet winter evening. My supervisor, after three slips that I knew how to deal with, said "Aah, she is now being lazy, let me now put sand." After that, the hauling loco pulled fine. So I do understand the situation here.

  • Top footage! Lovely, hard beat from the loco - nice and loud and crisp - absolutely beautiful! I can't wait for 134 to be up and running in Wales so I can go and film her!
