Potassium Permanganate and Glycerin(e) (Glycerol) react on contact and catch fire producing some funny smelling smoke. Let me know what you thin and if you have any other mixtures that behave like this since this reaction was a little slow getting going.

  • You should try negative X it is a mixture of 7 grams of zinc powder 3 grams of ammonium nitrate and .5 gram of table salt mix them together well with a mortar and pestle then put in a drop of water if done right it will ignite with a green fire it is pretty cool.

  • Hmm... sounds like a plan but getting NH3NO3 can be a little more difficult. Will give it a shot when I get the time, thanks.

  • Actually, some bombs during world war II use this very principle, mixing two substances like permanganate and glicerol or acid and other stuff by breaking glass ampoules.

  • you can get H3NO3 in Ace instant cold packs and some stores sell it straight up. they just make you sign a waver which they keep for 2 years they don't send it to the government or anyone. but not for the cold pack. just don't mix it with desil fuel.
