Humane Society San Antonio

The San Antonio Humane Society is one of the citys premier animal shelters. A key member of the Consortium of Partners and long-time grant recipient of the San Antonio Area Foundation, the Humane Society has shared their expertise and leadership by working with the Animal No Kill Initiative on all fronts. Executive Director Kathryn Bice says, At halfway into reaching the animal no kill goal by 2012, we must continue to build greater capacity for spay/neuter, adoption and education for the public who might not have the experience and knowledge of how to give optimal care to their pets.

Executive Director Kathryn Bice is no longer with SAHS. She resigned or was removed on Nov. 17, 2010 after allegations of misuse of funds and false reporting. It is unclear if legal authorities were involved with her departure. Neither the shelter nor the media is commenting on the situation.
