  • How successful is egg donation...I mean, if it fails, is it more likely to be because of the patient or because the procedure didn't work?

  • @phyllobaby Cumulatively, at good fertility centers, pregnancy rates from one donor egg cycle can be in the low 90's. For many women with diminished ovarian reserve (and resultant poor-quality embryos), egg donation dramatically improves their "success" rates, though a donor egg cycle can certainly fail. Many factors come into play: a donor may not produce enough eggs, or a recipient's uterus may fail to develop adequate endometrium to receive embryos, just to give two examples.

  • What a difficult decision to make knowing you cannot give your child your own genes. It's great that the CHR has one of the largest pools of donated eggs. If I had to choose someone else's genes I would want a place that offers many options.

  • Really informative video about egg donation, its glad to learn about such a sensitive subject

  • Dr. Gleicher is a nice and caring physician. He is more worried about the patient than anything else with egg donation. He not only understands the procedural points, but understand the psyche of a female patient receiving egg donation. Very informative video.

  • I woud imagine that Egg Donation is a dificult decision to make for some couples.

  • If you go to the CHR's website there is quite a bit of information about the whole egg donation process. The most well-known law in Canada is that egg donors are not allowed to be given financial compensation for a donation like they can in the US. The result has been fewer donors and long wait times for eggs. However, in the US there are very few regulations imposed on egg donation - a practice that has made this infertility treatment widely available to couples unable to conceive on their own.

  • interesting to know how the donation works. where can i find more information about the general process??

  • Does anyone know if there are any laws against egg donation in the USA or Canada?
