i also wanna restore my ux280p to factory condition but after i made recovery disk it says to restart but the external dvd drive doesnt show up untill its fully turns on and it says to restart again to get the menu to recovery . what can i do??

@killer34star off the top of my head, I'd say go into BIOS and change the boot order to look for CD/DVD 1st before the HDD. If I recall correctly the key to get into BIOS is F2 (Fn+2)

@killer34star the vaio is booting (or starting) from your HDD, where you have your vista install. You want to get into BIOS to change the boot order (where to start 1st) to your external USB drive (where you have your restore disk).
Restart the VAIO then keep on pressing F2 to go into BIOS. look for boot menu or boot order then change it to make it boot from USB DVD 1st, save and exit. watch the screen and you will see press key to boot from CD or something. HTH

@killer34star sorry windows7 starter is available for developing nations only. try getting windows7 home basic your computer shop should carry it. then just borrow an external usb dvd drive to install the OS.
