So, Lucas picked the only kid that flubbed his lines? That should have been his first clue that the kid is a fuck-up.

I certainly see why people think Jakes acting is bad. I also think the negative people here are unfortunately looking through tinted glasses when judging Child actors. Here's the deal... Jake Lloyd was pretty good for his age. Lucas made the best choice IMHO. When casting a child, you dont want them to act "rehearsed!" Jakes has a great voice and outgoing personality for that age, and his acting was natural for the part. If Jake hadn't let the criticism get to him, he would've been great!

Seriously, how important was the brown haired kid's parent that he even made it that far in the casting process. I know he's little and all, but I never thought I'd be glad Jake Llloyd was picked over anyone!

They just should have had Anakin be older...only a few select young children can act. They should have found Hayden (if that was their choice) and used him for all three. It would have made us all connect a bit more to Anakin earlier on.  I know Hayden would have been older when they made this movie, but that would have been much better. Little kids are annoying when they can't act.

@XvxBERSERKxvX Too dark? What in the hell are you babbling on about? You know what the letters "BS" stand for, don't you? I mean, the kid's going to become Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, a black clad cyborg interstellar tyrant! How the hell can you be too dark for a person who becomes such an adult?! Kid 2 was perfect for someone like that. He was great as an actor and I believe he could've put on the shady side as a hint of what he'd eventually become.

This is exactly where I knew Lucas had totally lost the plot, quite literally. What was he thinking?! I know for certain that kid 2 would've made a much better Anakin, both as an actor and in his personality. The kid's smooth and believable with his lines, and would've handled Lucas' crumby script far better, all of which would've made him far more likable, a bit like a young Mark Hamill, which is what we needed for these movies. We needed a young Mark Hamill but with a hint of darkness to him.

The Bleach Blonde kid was TOO dark for what they were going for. Thogh I would of signed him on over Jake if it was for a Batman movie or something.
