@able2ful1 but she's independent from Sauron, read the books and you'll know it.

@amportugalify then why did shelob attack frodo. if she's hungry for blood, why not attack gollum or another orc. besides, if shelob guarded orthanc, wouldn't that make her at least partly involved in saurons plot? i mean, if she guards the passage to the mountain then isn't she somewhat a pawn or not. someone help me out here. and don't say that aragog can kill shelob: he has kids but she has attractiveness and a stinger.

@able2ful1 Sauron didn't know Frodo had the ring or even that it was in the Shire until right before he set out on his journey.

The rough translation to this is: Sit the fuck down!

@nonamesleftdammit well i agree but, if sauron has access to a whole array of bad guys including the witch king and shelob then how could he possibly lose? if he amassed all those creatures near hobbiton before frodo left, he wouldn't lose in the first place.

@able2ful1 Actually, one of the greatest aspects of LotR is that fact that none of the heroes are a match for Sauron by themselves. As awesome as I think Gandalf is, he is not nearly as powerful as Sauron. There are beings far more powerful than Sauron in LotR, and the most powerful beings in Tolkien's world are benevolent (unlike The Old Ones from Lovecraft), however these beings have left Middle Earth to stand on its own. Sauron loses b/c he cannot comprehend the concept of "good".
I love Gimli's reaction: harrr!!
