Idea to Help Haiti

I'm sure every little bit counts. If you follow Eat Stop Eat, this is a super easy way to help out in Haiti...just donate the money you WOULD have spent on food during one of the days you are fasting.

Luckily the folks over ITUNES made donating to Red Cross incredibly easy.

The same shit happens with the great deal of aid we donate to Afghanistan. Some government official, military commander, war lord, etc. pockets it for himself and the poor people are screwed and left with nothing.

I hope our government can verify that the money & aid gets to the people who need it and not get pocketed by some government crook(s).

I remember when the earthquake happened in Pakistan a few years ago, the world donated money and emergency goods. I later found out from a friend of mine visiting Pakistan that the local government and military/police were SELLING the donated blankets to the poor and displaced people. This is just one example.

The only thing I worry about is the money not getting to the right people. In these 3rd world countries, many times the money & goods we donate wind up being pocketed by their government officials/crooks.

I only donated 5$ :s
