Haha That's the best way to do it to if you cant weld. or don't have the tools to weld. It works but not the safest. As long as you get a good amount of screws in there it should be good.

Sorry that should not be repaired for the road. Make it a trail buggy.

That car doesn't look roadworthy...

Speed limit signs and other traffic signs are good for replacing floor panels aswell. Know a fella that had somehow ran across 3 or 4 hundred old signs and for years we have used them for everything you can think of.. They are aluminum and some are thicker then others.

In England and Germany a car with as much rust as that would never pass the annual test. I did do a similar job to that in about 1970 but the annual test has been tightened up over the years. Originally it was just brakes, lights, steering and tyres. The horn had to work. Now its just about everything!. Pop rivets, self tap screws and brazing are not allowed. Emissions are also tested (at the end of the 1 hour test) Often the engine has cooled down and an unjustified failure is given.

Be careful as in some places the patch MUST be welded or a spot road check will get the vehicle towed

LOL 3:38 "see how it bends down?" after I smash it with my big red hammer!
Damn! That's a great idea! I have the same problem. I'm gonna do this until I can find a replacement floorpan to weld in. Just curious though -- what would you do about future rust on the pre-existing floor pan? I'm thinking of cutting it out and painting it with that POR15 stuff or some other protector. Any suggestions?

@ingaman The best way to do it would be to sandblast it and spray it with metal etch. But POR 15 is a good alternative.
