Golgo 13: The Professional is one of the earliest anime productions to use computer generated imagery and it shows.

Yes, I know that it's an old anime, but I still think they would have been better off doing that helicopter scene by means of traditional animation. Even though they wouldn't have been able to mimic all those 3D effects that way, the result would have been much more consistent with the rest of the movie. I really like the style they used in the 2D parts of the movie, but that helicopter scene just feels out of place and distracts the viewer.

  • Completely inconspicuous CGI.

    Hardly noticed.

  • It's understandable, it was the first EVER CGI used in anime.

  • It doesn't matter that this was the first CGI ever, it's called waiting until your CGI is good enough, or be damned to appear on youtube later

  • Really, this was among the of the first uses of cg. You can hate on it. Back then this was way a head of the curve. If anything this should remind of us of how far cg has progressed.

  • Spiderman: The "anime" series.

  • they should have just rotoscoped the whole scene to match with the visual consistency of the rest of the film

  • My first thought upon watching this: Simcopter.

  • @MacrossSD If the technology wasn't advanced enough to mesh with normal animation it should not have been used. Now stop being an idiot.

  • Seriously -- the people moaning about this probably, had they existed in 1937, would have been in a theater screaming at the screen during a "Flash Gordon" serial -- "LOOK -- U CAN SEE TEH WIREZ AND SPARKLERZ!"

  • @wonporky They shouldn't have used it at all if the technology wasn't there yet. It looks like crap, being the first doesn't make it any better.

  • Why are people hating this movie?

This movie was made in 1983, the first anime that used CGI.

  • @DingusStudley What did you expect CGI from 1983?

It was the first ever CGI used in anime.

    please stop bitching.
