@ilovemee21 Oh geez that's what the whole show is about :) Definitely give it a watch, but the basics are:

Katherine is a vampire, she played both Damon and Stefan when they were humans, but ultimately loves Stefan. Her blood changed Damon and Stefan to vampires.

Damon never knew that she loved Stefan more and spent 150yrs trying to free her from a tomb she was "trapped" in

Elena is Katherine's doppelganger, and Katherine's decedent.

Elena and Stefan are in love, but Damon loves her too.
