Johnny Cash - Hurt (Acoustic guitar cover)

Originally by the band Nine Inch Nails, such a masterful interpretation by Cash. And *news flash* recently covered by Leona Lewis, although not really my musical tastes her version should hopefully help some of the mainstream music listeners to be introduced to this great song!

I did a version of this ages ago but I thought I'd do another which (I hope) is better than my last!

Really easy song to play and sing but still remains a favourite of mine :) .

@DoomTrooperSDMF No. My video is a direct cover of the Cash version, hence why his name is in the title. As you can see I clearly say the original was by NIN in the video description so no need to get on your high horse regarding music snobbery ;]

@aswam444 Yeah, unfortunately because I use pretty basic recording equipment and a fairly cheap guitar I generally use a pick so the audio quality is much higher. If in the distant future I upgrade my tools then I would much prefer to do a cover without using one :P

There is a reason Johnny Cash's version is so hauntingly emotional. His voice is cracking and you can hear a lifetime of pain in it. He completely inhabits the song and the moment. So much so that it never fails to bring a tear to my eye every god damn time. Your version is technically proficient and all but this is a song that will never ever be topped in it's imagining. The fact that he recorded it so close to his death as well.

@PoseringBen You don't have to worry Ben, I never intended this cover version to even come remotely close to Cash's interpretation. I just hope my addition to the 1000s of covers out there goes someway to both show my appreciation for him as a musician and the incredibly haunting song created by Trent Reznor himself :-)

Johnny Cash is the one who covered this song, dumbass.  Lol. Johnny heard it, and Trent said the song was his bc it he performed it so much better. Now, u just made yourself look like a total douche, hahaha!!
