We were called out to cover this eviction of an Irish traveller community for human rights purposes. We were not expecting what was about to happen-they were'nt expecting the cameras.

Things are changing for travellers- last year the 106 Circular was introduced by the EEC through Strasbourg. This Circular recognises Roma, Irish Travellers and New Age Travellers as Ethnic minorities. Giving the nomadic Gypsy communities Rights for the first time. This is a recommended document of needs. It still has to be implemented into the British law- still watch your backs!! www.travellerstimes.org.uk robert barton trust www.gypsy-traveller.org

Thanx Cliff Codona and Gratton for bringing us together.

  • Dirty lawless pikey slags, build a big brick wall around it then fill it with petrol and flick in a fag

  • @stiglaa how can you own land and not live on or work it in some way? not trying to start a row just wondering? ownership is quite a clear cut thing, if you own land. its for a reason either living on or working it, crop dairy etc maybe building if allowed. romany gypsys i've only came accross in greece and that wasn't the best, my friend had his wallet pickpocketed, im not saying all gypsys are thieves but i've only had negative run ins with both irish and romany.

  • @haggisvan

But they do own the land. PP is the problem. Squatters are evicted from a house they do not own.

I suggest you look up the Law before your finger tips hit the keyboard again.

I understand about the Road Tax etc, and agree with you. I am Roma and do not live in a house, but I pay my taxes as I should. I also own land but I cannot live on it, so I do not.

    Stiglaa x

  • The police and bailiffs were very reasonable.

  • @qwyzl why set aside a piece of land! if any other person wants land they pay for it. tax and national insurance and council tax pay for schools maintenance and rubbish collection, the problem is gypsys want everything but want to pay and give nothing. they want to be a seperate people with no contact with outsiders fine, then don't use our facilaties convieniances and amienties, if you do PAY FOR IT. tell me i'm wrong!!!

  • you can't get evicted from something you dont own FACT, if travellers gypsys or whatever they feel is the right term, want to stay somewhere pay tax national insurance and all other bills like everyone else does heritage doesnt make you exempt, i know a few gypsys and they think road tax insurance and an mot are ridiculous, but if i get stopped im fined .but if a gypsy gets stopped nothing happens.gypsy life is a scam if you are travellers then travel to some where else, we pay for what we use!

  • Taking the kids through a ditch desperate measures????? thats where they all shit anyway
