Phantasy Star IV - Dark Force 1 - low level clear

I didn't realize it until now, but the first Dark Force in PSIV is a real joke as far as major bosses are concerned. I haven't fought any optional battles or purchased any new equipment or items since Zio, and I was very underleveled for that fight. This battle was quite easy, however. Raja's healing abilities are excellent, and both he and Wren join the party at high enough levels to carry themselves through this battle without difficulty. Save states were used and abused to reach this point in the game, but they were not used during this fight.

The only potential problem for this battle is activating your defensive skills before Dark Force attacks you. If Barrier and Blessing aren't activated in time, a single Burstroc or Phonon has the potential to instantly kill Chaz, Rika, and possibly even Rune.

The only item used for this fight was the wood cane. Yes, I'm still lugging it around. In a typical playthrough, it would have lost its usefulness long ago.

here is a tip for a harder game play, don't use saner/barrier/deban or any of those augments then the game is much harder and in my opinion more fun.

Note: when i played this game as i kid i only used Deban and Barrier its not so easy when the boss gets a hit partway through your attacks so you have to use more strategy.

He really gave me a beating today. In my opinion he's pretty awesome, especially compared to the Dark Force - sorry - Dark"FALZ" in Phantasy Star I. :D
