I composed the score and edited audio for the first-year team Yellow Sandwich in the Des Moines 2010 48 Hour Film Festival, July 23-25. This was our entry.

Required Character: Carl or Carla Ross, Plumber
Required Line: "Who came up with that?"
Required Prop: Coins
Our Genre: Thriller/Suspense

I've worked on a couple 48hr competitions in the past as a composer. This was my first time editing the raw audio and also my first time on set (I've always worked remotely before), and both were a learning experience. It was good fun.

  • I can't believe you guys didn't make the top 12. This movie is well done and fantastic story telling. Nice work. Keep it up. It is rare that teams actually stick to a difficult genre like this one and end up with an effective film.

  • @Larggy Wow, thanks! I had a lot of fun, and I'm pretty sure everybody else on the team did as well. From a music standpoint, I was actually really happy to get the genre - I love working within the parameters of the eerie, and creating ambient sounds to go along with it. I didn't have to direct or write though, so I got off easy! Thanks again!

  • Love the film - excellently shot and scored. The ending scene literally made me gasp when I first saw it. I especially like the nightmarish audio during the coin-counting scene. Nicely done.

  • @JustinNorman Thanks man! I had a blast working on it. Everything came together pretty well in the end, I think.

  • Nice work on the score dude

  • @Primetime515 Thanks! Was a lot of fun

  • @duVillage Hey thanks, man! You should check out the 48 Hour Film Festival's website - it's a worldwide competition, there may be events held near you that you could get in on.

  • The music was very fitting for the scenes. I've always wanted to do something like this, it would be so cool ^_^. I am jealous, haha :-)

  • @namineroxas45 Thanks! It was fun working on set this time. Also, I enjoy making creepy music. At some point I'll need to work on a film where I have more than 48 hours :)

  • nice job! the music gave a whole creepy vibe :D
