A trip from the A76 up to Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland and home to the world famous Museum of Lead Mining. As well as lead, gold is also found in the river around this area. My thanks go to Wanlockhead resident Dave Gibb for kindly allowing me to use his music on this video.

  • 1:25 and 2:34...Mr. Aggressive !

Was that the Kerk at 3:15? :->

  • 1:25 & 2:35 was Mr Making Progress and 3:15 is the world famous Museum of Lead Mining.

The cars and camper vans at 2:07 belong to the gold panners using the sluice box at 2:10, I take a brief glimpse in their direction on my left.

  • Thanks, looks a nice road, I dont think I have ever been there, going to keep this bookmarked for a destination ride on the Bike for next season :-)

  • Thanks for the comment,

This is a great road and Wanlockhead is a great wee village. Look out for sheep on the road and folks panning for gold in the river. If the weather clears up tomorrow I might go out for a run and film the road to the village from the A74 side.

  • A great ride through great country! Reminds me of a time I was in a gap between hills near Dunoon and saw two RAF jets go tearing through, lower than the peaks of the hills!!!

  • Superb stuff......and a damnd fine choice of song though I say so myself (blush). Bring some chocolate digestives next time you're up and a cup of tea is yours.

    Seeya soon I Hope.

  • Dear Mr. Making Progress,

    LOFL!

So, you were in a hurry to get to a Lead Museum? I guess Scots take mining seriously.

  • Some wicked scenery on that ride dude!

    Sweet music! :D
