This is the first round of modifications I've done to the Multiplex TwinStar. They include: Landing Gear, Steerable Nose Wheel, Removable Tail Feathers, Brushless Motors, Nacelle Covers, Flaps, and Spoilerons

I will be adding more to this model (paint, FAA lighting, etc) so stay tuned for updates!

  • Hi There Minneflyer

Am just picking up one of these next week, and really really wanted to ask if you wouldnt mind showing us all how you did your flaps and spoilerons? Do you need some special TX for this as I only have a Futaba 6EX (2.4)...

Also, what did you use to bolt the undercarraige on with to polystyrene?

Thanks, really look forward to a bit more info

  • Hi there, thanks for your comment! I'll try to answer you a bit here, but feel free to email me or find me on RCGroups and I'd be happy to elaborate. Flaps and Spoilerons are easy, just used 2 separate servos for flaps and mixed in my spoilerons using my transmitter (9 channel). The bolts for the tail feathers are 1/4 inch nylon and they thread into some bind-nuts that I've glued into the fuselage. It's really easy to do and I'll try to get more video showing you details later. Thanks again!

  • Wow!

Why don't you connect with Multiplex and pitch this as next year's Twinstar? How could they pass on such a great setup. They would likely be embarrassed to see theirs next to yours, but they should at least hire you as an adviser.

    Outstanding!...

  • Oh man, I wish I could get a job with an airplane manufacturer!! That would be a dream come true! Thanks for all your kind words, I certainly appreciate it! Hopefully I'll get around to paint and lighting on this bird soon.

  • Nice Ideas :-)

I've got also the twinstar, mine is using FPV.

And stabilizing the flaps with a cheap gyro (20-40$) will make it much easier to fly nice and slow and without any problems in the handling.

  • Actually this bird is my next FPV platform. I'm using my EasyStar with gyro right now for FPV but I do plan on making the TwinStar my next FPV platform. Those Esky Gyros from HobbyCity are a great deal at $12! Thanks for your comment!

  • thanks for the ideas, what does the wingspan get up to

  • I have an old Twinstar that i would love to paint up . Do you know what paint i should use as i hear car body paint ( cellulose) can eat the foam

  • Hello, i would like to know what motors you have in your twin star as well as the esc. Please let me know as i am looking to go with the brushless on my plane as well.

    steve

  • Thanks for the update. Does the plane come with flaps or did you have to cut them yourself?

For spoilerons, I only have a 6ch TX, maybe you could show us how you set that up as I'm new to this, and still tweaking my Tiger Trainer, and have just totally got the hang of programming my 6EX, and knowing what everything finally means lol...

Sorry to badger you buddy, but truly would love to know the ins-outs of how you did this...

Look forward to maybe seeing it in video??

    Keep up the great mods.
