Heh...you take the time to identify health providers...but DON'T look at providers. WHO do you think is demanding the cost?

    Who controls the cost?

The insurance company or the provider?

This was a very well stated, executed, and powerful message (that first woman is also dynamyte at keep-away). It is important that an industry that makes its money avoiding its duties through denial of claims and cancellation of service be told to go fuck itself. If the public option was available, only the truly stupid or those with a vested interest would choose to stay with an insurance company.

Awesome. Mic checks are the only way ordinary people get allowed into the media discourse. To anyone interested, I made a short compilation of all of Occupy's highest profile mic checks. The video's called "Occupy vs. Top 1%" Check it out!

I'm sorry but this is too indirect to be murder. If you do not help a homeless man, and he later dies, are you a murderer? Of course not! That would be a perversion of the definition of "murder". And the same applies here.

If an insurance company denies payment, but the life-saving procedure is done anyway, then how does that lead to death? Also, can you provide references that support a large-scale rejection of payment by insurance companies for covered critically-ill patients?

You understand that insurance companies have an army of people who go through your medical history looking for any thing they can claim makes you uninsurable right? That way even if you are paying for full coverage they can drop you or refuse to pay even if the procedure was already done. Their actions lead to many people dying. That is murder. The system is a broken corrupt mess and needs to be fixed. No other modern country has a private system. We need to change.

First, murder is the direct premeditated killing of one person by another using some kind of murder weapon (gun, knife, etc.). When an ill person dies, it's the disease that is the proximal cause of death--not an insurance CEO. Second, in the U.S. anyone can get life-saving medical treatment even if you don't have insurance or the capacity to pay. Third, some insurance providers offer coverage for the ill--they just cost more. Fourth, people should not let their insurance lapse.

Murder. They purposefully try and find any loophole to deny coverage to people who need it most in order to make the maximum profits for the company. HMO's and the like are literally a form of hitmen.
