  • In light of this information, the quotes around Records have been removed.

  • A friend who once worked as an engineer (although not at WLS) knew someone who had the original film and got a dvd copy. Nobody in the chain knew why it was shot. Landecker presumably would know so let's hope he weighs in.

  • Why does radio, tv, and music have to SUCK so bad now!!!

  • Landecker says in this video that radio is owned by the Public. Imagine that! then why is so hard to get on I'm the American public, your the American public. We should all have a chance at it. Now it seems to be owned by Corporatations. that is why I feel radio is dead its just hanging around as a robot. They can't afford to hire local talent, but they can afford to put up satellite dishes, and pull them out of the sky. What happens when that X flair comes? DEAD AIR

  • @chicagofilmarchives I first saw this years ago while i was studying radio-TV at Lakeland College in Mattoon, Il...

  • This is SO AWESOME!!!! I grew up in NW Indiana and listened every night as I drifted off to sleep. Thanks so much for sharing! It is so cool to see what he looked like back then.

  • Just now seeing what John Landecker looks like, after listening to him back in the late seventies, playin the hits of Rock n Roll, way out here in a small west Texas town. No wonder I was so sleepy in class, waiting for him to play that particular Stones, or Zepplin song before I dozed off!

  • This crings back sooooo many memories. I remember when Debbie Boone's song You Light Up My Life was on the charts and being played over and over and over. John took the record and broke it on the air and was told he had to keep playing it, so he played bits of it all night long. It was so funny.

  • I also, along with dylanpresley below, worked on this short film as a Columbia College student. It was shot around Xmas 1976 or January 1977. I worked on the sound crew.

  • This film was a student project for Columbia College, led by instructor Jim Martin. At that time John was taking some film classes there and agreed to be filmed. Later this was distributed by The Learning Corporation of America. I ran the camera on this project.

  • This is from a 1978 educational film titled DISC JOCKEY that was distributed by Learning Corporation of America. Possibly just for classroom use??
