Just venting... sharing my thoughts about something I've been getting a lot lately.

Take Care!

  • Hey girl! Great video, but I must disagree. As a college graduate with both a B.A & and M.A. my experience has been one of WTH AM I going to do with these degrees? LOL. Bottom line if it isn't practical then it likely will not yield substantial profit or career options. Now I'm not suggesting being unrealistic if you can't count don't be a accountant. LOL. IN MY OPINION, no one should pay $40k, $50k, even $60k for a socialization process. In my personal, educated opinion college is overrated.

  • @Kandie0101 thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. I'm sorry your experience has been as such. Its really unfortunate and heart breaking that you aren't satisfied with you education. Investing in the opportunity to cultivate interest and potential and turn that into a livelihood will never be overrated to me. The point I'm trying to make is that often time parents bully their children into majors that lie outside of their academic interests, for reasons that I believe are unfair.

  • @Kandie0101 I think your bottom line comes up short. If you're interested in the social sciences and wish to major in them your challenges is to then acquire these skills and expertise to the extent that you know how to call upon them in all arenas. I graduated with psych and anthro majors that are no headhunters, published authors, scholars, thinkers, entrepreneurs, etc. You have to make your passion practical so that you can maximize your profit and career options. That's all i'm saying.

  • @Kandie0101 it's not about forcing yourself to fit in to the popular, "practical" professions.. cause somebody else said so. I'm not saying this is the right answer or negate or disregard your experience and opinion. I thank you for sharing. This is just how I see it. Thanks again for commenting.

  • I came across this and this was a great lecture!

  • Thank you so much for this video. My dad's been trying to get me to major in computer science because I took one website development class in high school and did well. That class was a JOKE. anyway, I want to major in psychology but my dad thinks more money will come majoring in something else. But thank you so much for being in my corner.

  • Ooooh, you in the house today. My parents are on my case right now just like that. I'm a Social Science major myself. I'm glad to have my degree.....the best thing about it like you said is that it's very flexible and can be applied to almost anything. It's not the degree name that matters......it's what you do with it and for a person like me with VARIOUS interests, I can try my hand at a lot of careers and see what works best for me.

  • um well I'm in a major which is really challenging to me and I have failed a class or two however, I am really interested in getting through this despite my set backs. I don't only want to do it for myself but also for everyone who doubts me. I'm going into my sophomore year in engineering this fall. Do you think that I should change my major?

  • omg i have so many stories from college. my friend who majored in biology failed organic chemistry 3 times but would not change her major (per my advice) bc her mom would not let her. omg she barely graduated and ended up getting a master's in public health which should have been her concentration in undergrad.

  • @KristinaArtSeeTV girl i hear y a. i have a good friend who is the most educated tattoo artist / graphic designer i know. she has 2 bachelor's and a masters. film / fine arts / graphic design.

i know it's cool to do what you love.

i majored in anthropology and i am getting another degree in entertainment technology. i was almost pressured to be a nurse....(even though that degree is very handy).

  • I let my momma watch your video... YOU IN TROUBLE!!!! SHE MAD AT YOU!

  • @artsyone88 omg TELL.. ME... ABOUT.. IT...

I am a fine arts major... smh.. people just dont get it..
