Fatwa Issued against Indian National song ''Vande Mataram''

A top Indian Muslim body asked members of the community not to recite 'Vande Mataram' on the grounds that some verses of this Indian national song are against the tenets of Islam, The JEU leader said thatthis national song is against Islam.

I'm not Muslim but I agree with this, or at the very least, understand it. Honestly, Vande Mataram needs to be edited or no longer called a "national song." Personally, I love the song, so I don't see the latter as an option.

Well, this is shameful to me that ppl from my community will do that. But during independence day, we refrain from playing Gandhi movement themed songs. On August 15 1947 I'd rather recite songs sung by the INDIAN NATIONAL ARMY.

But that's just me....
