"mongol heavy cavalry"
if they wear alot of armor, they wouldnt be called mongol lol, they are famous for being quick and light

Yeah I've always questioned the yoke theory, something just seems too vague about it. It's quite clear that Russia was never conquered by the mongols at any point in history.

@ColdMorningStrangler Of course the Russians were conquered by Mongols. That is, the various slavic principalities, and the kingdom of Kievan Rus. All were conquered by Mongols, except the parts of Russia near Finland.
"Yoke" means "I hate you, you raped me!". In fact, the Mongols added the red streak of bloodthirstyness and military might to the existing gene pool, and thus created the modern Russian. Much of this was done via sperm transfer but also cultural fertilisation.

@ColdMorningStrangler, well, Russia was conquered by the Mongols, but it's more complicated than history often tells it. The "Mongol" soldiers included many Caucasians, including Turkmen, Persians, and Turks, and many mixed-race people like Uzbeks and Kazakhs. Of course, the army included many Asiatics as well. Thus, the "Mongol" empire was really a multi-racial conglomeration ruled by the Asian Mongol royalty.

The Mongols did have heavy cavalry, but not at first. Read the accounts of the battle of Leignitz...they only way they broke the shield wall of the Teutonic knights was with repeated attacks of heavy cavalry.

@ulongkoror Mongols still had to have lancers to take on heavier units but a minority of the cavalry were lancers.
The yoke theory was created by the German court historians of the new Russian dynasty - the Romanovs. It has served the end of justifying the Romanovs' claims for the throne and demonising their longtime adversaries - the Horde, or the professional Russian army, which remained fiercely loyal to the old Russian dynasty, wich was deposed and finally destroyed by the Romanovs as a result of a conspiracy.
