If you are old enough to be getting mail from AARP and grew up in eastern North Carolina, you'll probably remember the theme song to this popular late night program on WPTF radio.

  • Oh what great memories! I listened to Jimmy Capps on my little 10 transistor radio under my pillow in Rock Spring...near Greenville, NC way back when...

  • From 1952 to 1954 I pulled Jimmy Capps music and helped arrange his show. This was at WPTF. I left for the service in Oct 1954 and never saw Capps alive again. Too bad. I also worked for Jim Reed and Phil Ellis doing sports statistics. All pleasant memories.

  • In addition to eastern North Carolina resdients, don't forget the hundreds of students who attended schools in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area during this period. I entered Carolina in the fall of 1953 and had many study sessions with OBTY in the background.

  • Of course to me, this song makes me think of Sunday nights on 680 WPTF. Thanks to Don Curtis for keeping this memory alive and passing it on to future generations.

Classic stuff...and I still listen to it here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada...quite a ways from Selma, Johnston County, NC.

  • I enjoyed it. I was very small when he died and heard of him when WPTF had their 50th anniversary celebration. He died on Aug,1967. He was the DJ on WKIX from 1962 to 1967.
