This system allows the player to select any combination of drones and chanterelles quickly and easily allowing mid performance string addition/removal. A further advantage is that it is not required to move the drone strings across the bridge for disconnection so avoiding excess wear and the tendency for them to lose tuning. It also allows any shims to remain undisturbed. The instrument played here has drones of D &d, chanterelles of d, d',d" and trompette at d'. A further " mouche" drone is at a but not used on this recording.

  • Neil, what are the tunes you're playing? I recognize the first Galician tune but don't recall the name, and I don't know the second tune at all.

    Thanks.

  • Hi

Sorry for the delay - no time to surf.

The second tune is " Polka De l'Anglard "

from Patrick Bouffard Transept second prelude.( He plays it twice as fast :-( )

  • Very well indeed !!!!!

  • The first time that I saw this instrument was in a dvd concert from Jimi Page & Robert Palmer, since then I felt in love whit it! and I wonder how wonderful it can be this instrument combined whit the "tanpura" & and "sitar" & some southafricans drums!

  • Funny thing - the first part sounds to me more Arabic than most real Arabic music do.

  • Another to add to my favorites list, aka "Instruments I now want" list XD

  • How can I get one like this?

  • ok I just answered from myself. i saw your web page!

    Still Compliments! ;)
