I've loved ballet since I was 9 or 10 & I like it best when I was able to watch the dancers dance in their practice clothes, I didn't know why until I saw one of the first Balanchine ballets I'd ever seen The Four Temperaments. It was because I could clearly see the lines and shapes the dancers made & how they changed & moved through space. And Balanchine's choreography is one of the best ways to see this movement in one of its most beautiful forms. JMO

@1401JSC Well I'm no expert, but I can tell you what I see in this as well as other of Balanchine's works. I look at it from the prospective of a visual artist, so some of what I see might not make sense.
For me Balanchine is primarily about 2 things, music and the capacity of the human body to become the visual representation of that music. Not story, not acting, but the very physical embodiment of what the music is doing.

So go watch ABT dress up in fucking pirate costumes and do 10 percent dancing and 90 percent pantomime. Im sure you would love that bullshit. People who are educated in ballet love this ballet, ballet doesnt have to convey a message, it is simply a showcase of classical ballet. Stick to the cheesy ballets buddy if that's what you like

I don't think either one of you knows what the fuck you are talking about. You are in no place to judge this ballet, it's by Balanchine, and people love this ballet. I've seen this ballet live many times, once I saw SAB do it, the school I attend.
