The 3rd Annual Grand Lake St. Marys Polar Bear Plunge took place on March 6, 2010. Plungers were asked to raise a bear minimum of $75 in order to participate. The water temperature was a cold 34 degrees and ice as thick as nine inches had to be removed with chainsaws prior to the event. Close to 60 brave participants took to the water held at the Celina Moose Lodge. After the leasurely dip in the lake the swimmers enjoyed a Post Plunge Celebration and Awards ceremony. This event helps raise money for the deserving Special Olympics athletes in Ohio. The Grand Lake St. Marys plunge is one of nine Polar Bear Plunge fundraising events in Ohio throughout the months of January March, 2010.
