@barukatube Haka is a dance form, it is used as a welcome, to show respect, to support a speaker or many other things. It is also used as exercise (once was, rare now). It can be similar to martial arts in that if learned properly it involves efficient powerful movement. It is mostly used to rev people up and encourage camraderie. Western nations still have many rituals to rev people up and get a group feel going on(cheerleaders, sports chants etc). This is just a really cool way to do it.

i thought the battalion haka was difficult to learn at the time, this was wicked, a lot of haka practice went into that

first time I saw a haka was a by NZ army unit in the 90's at a ceremony during their deployment in the balkans
at that time i was a conscript in the german air force and i remember thinking: "Thank the lord that they're on our side"
