Back in the Tokyo Game Show 2005, Sega had introduced Sonic as going "back to his roots", with the game with the eponymous name, "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG". Featuring Sonic co-creator Yuji Naka in the background talking about his newest adventure, this video shown what was (assumingly) some very promising gameplay and a feeling of rebirth for Sonic. Oh yeah, and some awesome day-night sequences.

Too bad the game became trash. Ah, what could've been....

  • @AzukaraMegaDriver. The game isn't trash. It's still much better then a majority of Sonic's other 3D games. It's better then Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight, and Sonic Colors.

  • @pkstarstorm1up No, I'm pretty sure it's trash.

  • What happened to changing from day to night?!

  • @Uxie2Riolu15 This game was NOT SEGA or Sonic Team's fault. This game was set for a late 2007 Release, but Sony and Microsoft said:

"release the game by Christmas 2006 or we won't put any more Sonic games on our consoles"

Thus, well over 50% of the game's features were removed. This included:

    - A Gem that would have allowed Super Sonic In-game

    - A story for all 9 Characters

    - Metal Sonic as a pivotal character

    - Most town missions

    - Sonic running faster the more rings he'd collect

  • @Tannerwood66 SPOILER: MS and Sony did not do it, Sega did it. MS wanted this:

    /watch?v=8cBAgtILRlA

  • SEGA could've also worked on a spin-off for the same consoles as sonic 06 so they wouldn't have to deal with the rush they had

  • If Sega was not so lazy and they would actually finished this game it would have been the shit. But nooo they didn't instead they had a couple of beer and think that the game was finished. Finally the day of Sonic the hedgehog was here and you think that this is the best game ever. So you put the game in your console, played the first level and think WTF did I just played, this game is garbage, I want my money back. Shame on you Sega, why Sega. All I'm just saying is sega was lazy with this game

  • @pkstarstorm1up So what do you call constantly telling people how you think this game is SOOOO good, even though they don't care because they either played it and hated it, or haven't heard of it? You could just as easily say "The game got bad scores, but I personally enjoyed it more than ______". Also, how is BlazeHedgehog a retro fag? I don't think a retro Sonic fag would like games like Rush, Unleashed, or Generations, or make a 2D version of a game he doesn't like (aka 2006).

  • @Amurutimate I'm not shoving my opinion down people's throats. There is a difference between forcing your opinon down people's throats and simply expressing your opinion.

  • @SuperSonicRider9000 I would've loved to play this version of the game, but we got the alpha build instead of the one that actually looks fun to play. At least Sega's gotten better with Sonic games since 2006.

  • @pkstarstorm1up Okay, so you go enjoy the game then. Stop shoving your opinion on it down everyone else's throats--you're not making them change their minds.

  • @Amurutimate That's Sonic '06 for ya. =P

  • @SuperSonicRider9000 I don't think that it is the holy grail of Sonic. I just think that it is much better than people make it out to be.
