Development Indicators - Seminar in Memory of Ian Castles (UN Statistical Commission)
Ian Castles (1935 to 2010) was Australian Statistician from 1986 to 1994, during which time he was President of the International Association of Official Statistics from 1991 to 1993. He was elected a member of the International Statistical Institute in 1994. Ian placed great emphasis on the importance of independence, objectivity and integrity in statistical work and he had a special interest in information requirements for public policy, especially at the international level.
This seminar, in memory of Ian Castles, will focus on both of these emphases, with special attention to international work on development indicators
