You guys complain about this feature and say that when you turn it off it's okay, but even when turned off, that's when you get the motion blur. Why not just save money and buy a plasma, so you get a cinematic picture and that's that. That's what plasmas are for, and don't give me the whole 'burn-in' bullshit sob story, because that's virtually gone now. It's 2012. All you have to do is break-in the tv by watching shows for the first 100 hours and you're good. LCD is mainly for gaming.
THIS FEATURE SUCKS!!!! I spend hours trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with the TV or if it was the player or the DVD or what. Soap Opera Effect is EXACTLY what I was trying to describe when explaining my gripe with other people... Good way to put it. I finally tried turning that off and YES!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I can watch the movie like normal now.
That said, TruMotion does seem to work well for games so I turn it back on for that. But for movies? Blah...
"Soap Opera Effect" - That is exactly the term I've been searching for to describe the effect I've been "suffering" from since buying an LG LED5500 last summer. I'm not terribly tech savvy and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why everything looked so weird. I finally realized today it was the True Motion setting. Since I turned it off, everything looks so much better. Maybe it's a good idea in theory, or maybe more tech savvy folks can tweak it to work, but for me it was rubbish.
@tallyhoman911 ur a retard. buy plasma for movies before you hate on lcd with trumotion. lcd isnt best choice for movies but trumotion does benefit most video games along with sports. if u have a lcd tv for movies mabey you should educate yourself
ya the nerd that says educate yourself is retarted tru motion is great for video games and great for sports games. the retard that says educate yourself is a dumbass if he bought a lcd for movies instead of plasma. god think before u post not every1 just watches movies on a tv. buy plasma if u only watch movies b4 u post sounding retarted. trumotion is overall great addition for lcd tvs overall. i work at best buy and sell tvs and highly educated about all tv products.
@qpstrafe ok i wrote that awhile ago and i changed my mind after watching the dark knight at 120hz i think that movies should be 24fps and only video games should have high framerates
I would choose 24fps in films and television shows over "120fps" any day. There are SO many scientific reasons for that, but television companies have you all fooled, saying smoother is better.
Educate yourselves, guys. Do a simple Google search on the "Soap Opera Effect" caused by converting to a higher frame rate.
Anyone who uses the program "Twixtor" should understand exactly what TruMotion is and why it isn't a good technology for TV's.
