Special Report: Strong quake jolts SW China

US President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush have visited the Chinese embassy in Washington. They mourned quake victims and conveyed their condolences to the Chinese people.

Bush signed the condolence book and extended sympathy from the American people to those killed in the earthquake. Bush said he admires the strength the Chinese people showed in the aftermath of the quake. He said the US stands ready to help in any way that the Chinese government would like.

After signing the condolence book, Bush and his wife stood for a moment of silence to mourn the victims of the earthquake.
