Traditional Zipper

Thanks for this tutorial. I see that you actually extend the zipper over the top of the fabric, i.e, your zipper is bigger than it needs to be. I've seen a few others do this but no one ever talks about trimming the zipper down, removing the teeth, etc. given the teeth will now end up in the seamline. Can you talk about this? I've sewn for years and always had trouble dealing with the pulltab on my centered zippers. Thanks!

You are a really good instructor. Your video is straight forward and easy to understand. I'll have to watch more of what you posted. Great nails by the way!

This is excellent. Thank you for sharing. One question though... you changed the zipper foot round 180 degrees, did I get that right? Do all sewing machines do that? I've never seen that happen before now.

I don't like that I have to cut the fabric...
im going to insert a zipper for the first time. it's into the back of a dress. do i hem the top after i put in the zipper or before? or should i just use bias tape afterwards? thanks

@5rhymez Have you thought about putting in an invisible zipper instead? I also have a tutorial on my channel for invisible zippers and they are the BEST! If you'd rather put in a traditional, centered zipper you will put the facing on after you have inserted the zipper for a cleaner finish.
