  • a friend of mine told me that croatian and serbian are like the same language.. could anyone tell me if its true because i noticed some differences like in serbian for hello you say "zdravo" and not "bok" and things like that.

so is croatian and serbian the same language or not? if not, what are the differences?

would be happy if anyone could tell me

  • @pizzaeater6000

It's like "good night" "sleep well" "sweet dreams"

Same meaning, all words of those two language are understandable in each country...

Something like british and american english....

However, there was a war betwen croatia and serbia 20y ago, so everyone will act like theres a huge difference...

Look at the comment below for example... dobra večer , a ne dobro veče

  • This is also Serbian. Croatian or Serbian... it's the same language.

  • dobro lessons, thanks

  • Thanks your very helpful!

  • @mmmtastybrains

correct: ja ću izaći van da saznam hoće li ili neće padati kiša, I'm a native speaker, and I think it is correct

  • @pizzaeater6000 Thats true. They are verry similiar

  • its similiar to russian!!

  • @Croatian101Lesson Well that's strange since my mother told me that serbian and croatian differ in many aspects. I'm not fluent in croatian (still learning) and I'm sorry if I make any grammatical mistakes. Shit happens. An english sentence "I am going out to find out whether or not it's going to rain."

So, my understanding is that a Serb-guy'd say something like:"Ja ići van da saznat ću da li će kiša da pada." While a Croat'd say: "Ja ići van saznati hoće li kiša padati?"

    explain please :)
