Fletchers Bag have a go at Donald Byrd's 'Steppin Into Tomorrow' in a basement bar somewhere in London - it's a bit sketchy but it was our first gig innit!

Enjoy!

Alex Fletcher - Trumpet.
Alec Gage - Bass.
Steve Holmes - Keys.
Tom Macleod - Sax.
Terron Murray - Drums.
Andres Razzini - Guitar.

  • Good effort, I love this song!

  • @tomogradymusic Thanks Tom, really enjoying your video's as well - think I saw your video of the solo to Hearts Desire on Brownswood and then had the pleasure of seeing you play it live with Don himself - must have been special! Nice job on the Chameleon solo as well - that song had a profound effect on me as well - I sat down to try and learn it one day but didn't have the patience to see it through - would love to see your transcription of it if you don't mind passing it on. Cheers Steve

  • @holmesly1 Hi Steve, I'm glad you got to see Don Blackman live, I have nothing but praise for him, he is a great man. Especially to give an opportunity like that to me!

Anyway, PM me on here with your address and I'll send the transcription over if you'd like it. Have you transcribed anything, and have you done charts for Stepping into Tomorrow and any other Donald Byrd / Mizell tracks?

Are you gigging regularly with Fletcher's Bag - I'll come down and watch if I can!

    Cheers,

    Tom
