Composed by one of Mongolia's finest Christian songwriters, Ganchimeg Fyodor, the song "Mongolian Warrriors" captures the heart of every Mongolian. Tied to their rich history and the remembrance of Mongolia's expansive former empire, a young church has been birthed in recent years which longs to recapture Mongolia and its diaspora with the message of a new Kingdom of love and reconciliation.
Tumku, who sings this song, was tragically killed in a car accident just days after hearing this recording. His life, heart, and musical gift is such a wonderful representation of the message of the song. May the spirit that he poured into this song be long lived, and may his life and death be a seed sown into the new Kingdom.
Some of the sounds that you hear in the recording are indigenous to Mongolia. The 'long song" is a musical style associated with the female vocal part at the beginning and end of the song. Also, in the same locations you will hear "khoomii", or throat singing. This is the men's voices as they form the sound with vocal harmonics.
