Course Objectives:
· Gain foundation in the history of classical and contemporary Arabic music.
· Appreciate how diverse Arabic musical traditions derive from and influence their cultures and societies.
· Learn basic Arabic music vocabulary, including terminology regarding pitch, tonality and mode, melody and melodic structure, rhythm and meter, timbre and texture.
