I am a victim of male circumcision. I live in the US. It was done to me at one day old. My parents weren't consulted. It has effected my entire life. My human rights were ignored. Knowing that I exist in an altered body is horrible . The pain I feel is profound yet I can't find an empathetic ear. Men don't want to admit they are not complete. Funny, if I were a female victim of genital mutilation there would be help at every turn. Men need help too. Men are also victims of genital mutilation.

@ilikeoptter I agree (though as a female obviously cannot personally relate). I have pondered why so many men just accept this as normal and do the same to their own baby boys. I imagine it's because to admit their true feelings would be somehow emasculating or to suggest there is something wrong with the society they support.

I very much like that you talked about male circumcision. It's horrendous. A child to be taken from their mother, left stranded alone in a room full of other crying, hopeless newborns, left among metal, antiseptics and nothing that is alive or is expected and then to later be mutilated. And this is part of the culture I'm brought up in (Jewish) and is seen as a covenant. My child is certainly not going to be in that covenant lol.

@Loreleila It is a known psychological fact that the abused become the abusers. Doctor that perform this horrendous mutilation are they themselves circumcised. The fathers that have it done to their sons are circumcised. The mutilation will continue because in order to understand their own mutilation they mutilate others. Child abuse of any sort follows the same pattern. I have 3 intact sons; I broke the cycle. Men need to be courageous & act to protect their sons or the harm will never end.

I totally agree with you Loreleila. But the problem is there was a recent study done in Africa that proved the same thing for male circumcision although the difference being they were looking for that answer to try and further the pro-circ. cause in men. And there is apparently a lot of evidence saying the study was extremely flawed. The reason both forms of mutilation seem to lower risk of HIV is because the area is dried up and tough and more resistant to tearing.

Oh, it DOES affect the function. Before I knew WHY certain problems occurred I thought it was because women were inept at having sex resulting in less than I could have expected. It was good, but not as good as it SHOULD have been. I now know that ALL of the problems were because I lacked a foreskin.
