The finished double wound coil made with my home made jig.
I had to make my own spool, because I was going crazy tring to find one anywhere.
I even asked Bulk Wire.com if they would send me an empty spool along with my order, but apperently that was too much to ask.
So I got creative and made my own out of 1' pvc and 1/8' thick plexi glass.
I cut the pvc with my chop saw, and used a jig saw to cut the plexi glass into a circle, then drilled out the center hole and shaped it with a dremel tool.
I must say I'm very pleased with the results.
Coil winding is an art, it takes practice.

  • Question on the location of the starting and ending wires. Are the starting two wires on top and the ending on bottom to give you north and south poles. Is that how it works? Thanks! Looks good!

  • I feel you on the spool thing man! I did the exact same thing you did to make my spool. It's a little cooler to look at too with the clear end caps. What power supply did you run this off of?

  • looking great!
