Here is the amazing Mechanical Music Box by Kikkerland. I searched and searched for a music box that could play an original composition, but they don't really exist. Then, for less than $15, I found this one that plays music from a "piano roll" style strip of paper that you can punch holes in to make it play whatever you want.

Finally, I can play this theme that I wrote for my wife as a wedding gift. Today is her birthday, and later this month it will have been 20 years since I proposed to her. I love you Christy - here's your song!

  • If these are expensive I can see why, it reads the music then plays it. That's pretty advanced when you think about it.

  • @SuperCatfire The music box and strips themselves cost me less than $15. That's a steal.

  • If anybody is interested, I wrote a program that allows you to write songs for this and test them out before actually punching out the holes.

  • @Idkfawin32 Mac or PC?

  • You finished on a dominant fifth! Resolve the cadence! AArgh. :P

  • @Paullove89 I know! On the piano, there's another part of the song. For the music box, I kinda imagined the song looping back to the beginning (which resolves the V chord), much like most music boxes do.
