The Kenyan government is under sharp focus over the weekend demolitions in Syokimau. It is now emerging that the titles held by the home owners were issued by the lands commissioner himself, amid growing public anger over the action. And as Robert Nagila reports, a new map has surfaced that redraws the original boundaries of the land in question putting it as belonging to Kenya Airports Authority.Interestingly, neither KAA nor the government have commented on the matter.
something is wrong .its painfully to see hard working Kenyans brought to waste by the government. what was the need to demolish quickly ? and the planes are still landing and have been landing .how could this people been supplied with electricity and water ? also how long does is take for the government to know about its land is being developed.I think this act doesn't require one to have gone to the law school to actually understand what happened

The Kenyan govt is worse than the Al-Shabaab. They hurt alot of Kenyans due to their ignorance, neglegence, greed, malfeasance & sheer incompetence. You will answer to the man Upstairs one day.

Shame on the minister of transport to hear him speak so recklessly and with such arrogance, was simply unbelievable and simply undeserving of Kenyans at large!
You were so ruthless and inhumane in your actions.
And Orengo, stop your loose talks (fraud?). Which ministry issued the fakes? Which ministry authenticates and issues the titles?
And for you Saitoti, you are a loose cannon ball, dpn't treat Kenyans with such disrespect!

In the end, we can summarize the past 10 years to have had several high profile scams that steal from the poor/middle class, and this is one of them. Although some may not look like scams, they are indeed. Think of scams like the Pyramid Schemes, the IPOs, proliferation of Universities/Parallel Programmes, 6.4Bn drugs and Zawadi 2929 onTV. All of them can be tracked to some rich chaps who use any means to steal from unsuspecting people who want to grow financially. Only the "organizers" benefit

@wamuze , I think you are missing the point here. Of course I sympathise with those who have lost their property. However, the key issue here is that it appears that that someone sold them property they (seller) did not own. There's a legal rule which many law students and practitioners should be familiar with referred to in latin as "nemo dat quod non habet" , i.e, one cannot sell what one does not own. For example, I cannot sell the grounds infront of KICC to you because I do not own it.

GOK, what you are witnessing are hard working Kenyans realizing their VISION 2030 a good 20 years ahead of your dream, but you cant stand to see an emerging middle class in Kenya because it would spell doom to your corruption, oppression and impunity. Thats why you demolish the middle class but cant eradicate slums because you can count on buying their votes as you promise them a lie.

@magellanmax and your friends First of you cannot be evicted on property that you legally own. The airport authority should have taken this issue with the relevant authority and EMINENT DOMAIN should be the legal recourse not bulldozing away peoples livelihoods. When you see this kinds of action by your own Govt, you should question even where you've lived your entire lives, this just proves a title deed is as important as a roll of tissue paper. A govt that cant respect its people is useless...

@Jasubakende Well said. When the homeowners ignored the repeated notices without as much filing a court injunction, they screwed themselves over. If anybody is to blame it's whomever illegally sold government land to the developers. Find & prosecute them and try to recoup the lost property. This is almost as crazy as the slumlords who are fighting tooth & nail against new government apartments to replace the ramshackle structures in the slums. They claim they own the land. Go figure.
