I'd pick the Alesis Ion or the Korg X 50 to get the same sound.

The Ion is quite a nice VA and it actually models the OB filter too. Although the Xa used a curtis chip I belive.

yeah, the "same" sound. It won't sound near as good. Analog synths sound so much better in my opinion

If you pay close attention during the synth solo in the video you can see the "120 Programs" plaque next to the logo. So, it's definitely the Xa.

Yes. OB-8 has more stable oscillators, but this make it a bit less "fatter" than the OB-Xa

LOL, This is THE keyboard that originated that "jump sound." Yes, Van Halen used an Oberheim. I believe the same model too. Van Halen used the Oberheim synth on their 1984 through OU812 albums. For the next album, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Eddie traded the synth in for a power drill...Poundcake anyone?
