Ibizat ei juokse, ne lentää =D Tapasin ekaa kertaa moisia viimetalvena Turun koiraneyttelyssä. Suorastaan valloittava persoonallisuus noilla.

I've read that you shouldn't let Ibizan's off their lease in an open area because of their prey drive, but I've seen videos of people doing it all the time, even around forests where you would think squirrels and such would be a bad idea. So how do you know when it will be okay or not? Thank you so much!

This is just my opinion but instead of thinking CAN you let them run free I think they SHOULD have a possibility for it. Some people might have fenced area large enough IH's to move properly and maybe able to hunt some little creatures too, but it really requires plenty of space... We're living in Finland so luckily we got really good opportinitys to take our dogs in safety areas where they can accomplish their natural demands what comes to excercise and for hunting.

The prey drive is really strong so if they find something they definitely will try to catch it, LOL! There's nothing you can do about it, but after the chase they always come back quickly. Without the prey they never "just go" and leave their pack. Or at least mine wont :)

There is a few more video, where you can also see that Chart Polski more. She becomes 9 years old, so she isnt that fast anymore than she was at younger years. Still faster than Ibizans, but hasn't ever been so agile or sustainable. She's more sprinter type than our hounds. ... and her's nature is like shepherd's, she dont wanna leave me or her pack so she never runs very far away from me.
