The boys of St.Paul's Cathedral choir sing Mark Blatchly's setting of Laurence Binyon's poem 'For the Fallen' at the 1982 Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance in London's Royal Albert Hall, directed by Barry Rose, with the composer at the organ.

  • Beautiful and at last we get to hear the Royal Albert Hall's organ without massed bands or orchestras drowning it out.

  • Fabulous. I remember seeing this in 1982 and have never forgotten it. A stirring contrast with the awful, gushing setting of the same words performed at last year's Festival of Remembrance.

  • Very nice moment for this archive. Thank you.

  • No, Phoenix left in 1980/1.

  • Was that Paul Phoenix at 1:25? I've always loved this song from the St. Paul's Cathedral Choir. I heard this from their CD How Can I Keep from Singing? and have been searching for a video from YouTube for quite a long time. Thank you very much for posting this video. It's a treasure.

  • And the boys are actually emotionally engaged with it. Marvellous and a tribute to Sir Barry!

  • beatiful
