GTA 4 ATI Radeon HD 4200 Awesome-end graphic

GTAIV really demands your graphic. Perhaps the game is the only one push your graphic card to, or i can say beyond its limit. Here's some guide on how to tweak the game's graphic.

Run smoothly but in the video it's surely laggy? It's because i use Fraps and it makes me lose fps and maybe some damn stupid viruses have successfully attacked my system =o [the reason why it's stuck for a second]. I can't show you how the game runs without Fraps because i don't own a damn video recorder.

Please be noted that, it is not the same since i made the video so perhaps my pc much better now. Plus i didn't keep track to what i've done to the pc. By the time, the fps was 13-15.

This is what you have to do to tweak the graphic. I didn't put it in sequence and you don't have to follow it step by step, just to check what you have to do.

Actually, L3 environment mod makes everything look awesome. It's the crucial part to make awesome graphic.
This realistic mod is the best for it. Thanks a lot to lpf312.

Ok. Here's i will guide you how to do a little magic to your pc.

1. Install patch 1.0.1.0 and not other patch version. Why? Because any patch released after patch 1 makes the game run like shit! I mean for this graphic card. Other patch is specially designed for high-end pc. For future pc. says Rockstar. I advice you not to use any patch. Patch 1.0.1.0 is just for installing any mod [if you want to].

2. commandline
-novblank -noprecache -percentvidmem 100 -nomemrestrict -norestriction
use these commandline. It's up to you to use any other commandline.

3. Graphic settings

4. Catalyst settings

Rotate display : Landscape
Set desktop area to : 1024 x 600 [same as video mode]

3D Settings
- Standard Settings : Leave it
- Anti-aliasing : 4x
- Anisotropic filtering : 16x
- Catalyst A.I : Advanced
- MipMap detail level : High performance
- Wait for vertical refresh : Off, unless application specifies
- Adaptive anti-aliasing : Enabled

OpenGL Settings : Check it

* latest catalyst version makes you lose some fps for turning on AA. Use it at your own will

5. Contig

6. Game Booster

7. Install mod
Install all the mod that i have listed above.

8. Update your graphic card driver
Seriously, my game start to run smoothly after i updated it.

9. Install and use AMD Fusion Gaming Tool. Set to Gaming profile and activate it whenever you want to play GTA 4. To set back your pc into normal performance, just activate Balanced profile. This is for those who possess AMD processor.

10. Optional. If you have terrible fps during raining, use this mod. Do not copy all files because it will becomes conflict with L3 environment. Just copy both value for rain.NumberParticles.ps3 and rain.NumberParticles in VisualSettings and copy into L3's VisualSettings. I didn't apply it so i don't know if it's working or not. Do at your own risk.

11. Optional. Upgrade your computer RAM so any background software running don't interfere your gameplay.

13. Gaining more fps :-
i. replace everything in GTAIV\common\shaders\win32_30_nv8 with -win32_30_atidx10
ii. download this

* make sure to make back up files + use at your own risk!

how in the world did you get gta 4 to run at around 18fps in that big of a resolution and medium textures, high render quality and max shadow and car density?

i only get around that much fps with everything on low and 800x600, and i have a amd phenom II x2 521 3.5ghz processor with 4gigs of ram...

What the hell? I have a 512 mb hd 6520g gaming laptop and I can barely get 30-40 FPS on it. I have an HD 4200 at home, theres no way that it could run GTA IV.
