ENGLISH: 1057 meters altitude of Predeal Rail Station means dangerous, heavy and demanding slopes and ramps for trains (Predeal - Campina, 20/1000; Predeal - Brasov, 26/1000), while hundreds or thousands of tons are in the hand of the train drivers decision who have special authorisation to haul trains on this section.

Perhaps in no other place in the Romania can see better the traction power that could be prove by the electric locomotives - ASEA 060-EA - built by Electroputere. Sure that the performance of this 1964 model are now successfully surpassed by the Taurus or the other next-generation engines, but history written by 060-EA-001 and her "sisters" is something that we are to be proud of!

The 13 trains photographed in the time interval, 9:45 to 17:15, can be seen in the video below from entering from Sinaia to Predeal or from the steep entry from Brasov to Predeal. Whether it was the Vienna Westbahnhof International or InterRegio Galați -- Brașov or Brașov -- Iași, traction is taken over by the main star ASEA 060-EA. Hundreds of tons represented by modern cars are and offering comfort to travelers are towed without problems by the perfect combination between vigilant train engineers and strong power features by electric locomotive presented above.

So I wish you a pleasant viewing! The trains recorded on the video are mentioned in the list below!

  • @13612 Oh I see... So the "train" stuff it`s some kind of great history in your family. Did you followed your father`s steps being you a train driver? Anyway, I wish you all the best from Romania!

  • @TrainsInRomania

Many years ago, he is gone now, he was on trains during the 1920's thru 1962 when he retired. He started as a steamer....before diesels came around and then that is what he drove until he retired. He drove where I am now, in Black River, NY USA

  • @13612 Thank you for your beautiful comment! So you told me that your father was a driver of the trains? Where? I wish you a great 2012!

  • Thanks for posting these videos.....I plan to watch more of them. My grandfather left Denmark around 1918 and eventually became an engineman/driver of the trains here and retired in 1962. You have a beautiful country, I wish we had trains here to travel on where you can see country like that. Most travel here is done by planes, buses or cars......some trains in busy areas like Washington DC for commuting.
