FINALLY, the pilot episode in a form I can be proud of...

Description from version 1:
Let me ask you a question... Do you consider the morality of using the toilet prior to doing your business? This is the visceral level at which indoctrination affects the child. She is told what to say and believe from such a young age, and this indoctrination is reinforced throughout her childhood by socialization via church attendance, sunday school, bible camps and other means. This creates a vision of love and peace for the child while garnering a modicum of control for his adult indoctrinators. The children called child-evangelists are treated as peers and feel that they are taken more seriously by the adults in their lives by being able to participate in "spreading the faith" and "winning the lost"... It was perhaps said best by Becky Fisher in "Jesus Camp" while speaking of indoctrination - "The things children learn at age 7, 8 or 9 are pretty much there for the rest of their lives."

-Modias

P.S.: Yes, it REALLY DOES say "Episode 1". This is a re-do, and I hope you like it. Thanks for watching!!

  • Rick Perry giving the Nazi salute was priceless! lol

  • @TheD0ded0de - One of my favorite political shotsof the election season so far, definitely...

  • I'm so glad I went back to watch this! Because I recognized the Carlin clip in the thumbnail I figured it was just a reposting of that bit and didn't click on it. Glad I took a closer look at the video length! I'm looking forward to more on this series.

  • @BornWithoutReligion - Oh shit, Emily... I bet a lot of people think that, because my views are really low on this one, compared to the others in the Psych series. Didn't even think about that! FAIL... Thanks, and I should have another one posted toward the beginning of December!

  • A future classic. Well-done!

  • @KaroKoenich - Thanks! That's really nice of you...

  • Awesome dissertation on child abuse at the hands of the religious. Looking forward to more. As a bio teacher, I can attest to the severity of the indoctrination when I try to teach my fundie students.

  • Impressive. Nicely put together..

  • Fuck athiests. Go crawl back to your hole scum.

  • As a child, I was told by my parents that god cared about all of us and had a special plan for everyone, but I learned very early that god never answered prayers, no matter how desperate the need. God never seemed to help anyone, as far as I could see, not the starving children in Africa, not my family, no one at all. It didn't take me long to stop believing in that nonsense, and once I did, my life got better, because I relied on myself rather than an invisible being in the sky.

  • Indoctrination of children does not always work. I am a perfect example of that. My parents were staunch protestants, and I went to church, sunday school, daily prayers, teen bible study group once a week (my parents forced me to go,they thought it might turn me around, but I hated it), and I've been an atheist as long as I can remember, despite my parents strenuous efforts. I was skeptical at 8, and nonbelieving at 10. It didn't take in my case, although my cousins are all religious.

  • Nice Modias, thanks for sharing it.
