Oftentimes, the poorest of the poor, the slum dwellers, the informal settlers of third world countries and their shanties and lifestyles are considered eyesores and burdens of society. Gawad Kalinga's (GK) holistic intervention transforms these perceived burdens into productive members of society. What about those in prison - not necessarily poorest of the poor, but often poor in spirit and hope. Perceived burden to society? Yes. Condemned? Yes. GK being truly inclusive and without borders reaches out to these inmates and transforms not only the detainees but the staff as well.
Meet Jane Ruelo and Jed Sy, both inmates of the Davao City jail. Watch their story as they share how GK has brought new meaning to their lives, even behind bars.
GK is a new beginning for ALL, the poor, the corrupt, the hopeless, the destitute, from all walks of life - true Christian stewardship of caring for all.
Be part of the solution. We can all make a difference. Join us! Be a hero to someone you don't know.

We had a visit today to Davao city Jail - thank you very much for the wonderful reception you gave myself and Friends of Mindanao.
It was my first visit today and it was an amazing experience to see the talents of the singers and dancers at Ray of Hope.
Thank you to the people who showed us around and for your kindness and hospitality and I am very happy I visited today.
