The objects that Sam places on the altars are the Four Elements collected in the earlier levels: Sand Canyon, Tomb of Ramses III, Valley of the Kings and Oasis.

Damn you Bio-Mechanoid and your conveniently well shot Rockets. If Sam was real, he would have a hole where his stomach used to be. Phew, at least I had enough health to spare myself any further embarrassment. For now.

In the end cutscene, when Sam runs through the yard to the actual exit; this actually turns out to be the first Secret for the next level, Karnak.

@hardstyle905 With Sam questioning what the hell the camera was doing floating in front of him before the cutscene hands control back to the player; it seems as though Sam knows that there's something out there watching his every movement thus the 'fourth wall' quip I made. I think it's 'breaking the fourth wall', it might be something else.
