you should have fully cropped it when it happened with clippers, so it would grow back even. that sucks though.. i'd kill anyone who touches my horse mane. i work hard to make there main as long as possible
-
charge him with animal cruelty and let the law take it from there he can be charged the fee of the farrier for life and might serve community servce for what he did if his horses are like that tooo then youve got proof of neglect its never too late to press charges
-
if they were to cut his mane for a valid reason they should have cut it properly or let you know. Clearly they hadn't looked after him right. My horse has bad feet and he's been out of work for months =/ i know how long feet take to get right if something goes seriously wrong so although his feet and belly were easy to take care of think about mental issues, and long term damage done. Hope hes okay now though =]

obviously your "friend" neglected your horse...but the mane will return. You should be more worried about any possible long term health effects from his feet and the weight issue. I completely understand your situation, but lighten up about the mane and focus on the "main" problems. btw your horse is still beautiful

well personally, i like his mane a lot better short like it looks, but thats just me. besides if you go away for 6 months or something and you leave your horse with a "Friend" they should be allowed to do whatever with him, as long as its not abuse or something. its your own fault, you should have left him with a more trustworthy person. but anyways i hope it grows back for you!

Yes, we looooove our horses. But this is ridiculus, his mane will grow back. Any bad behavior from the horse is not because his mane was chopped off. Yes, they did a dispicable job of cutting his mane, but it IS only hair. And his mane wasn't too long to begin with. The best thing you can do, is just roach it in a way that makes his neck look thicker.

I agree...I would be more upset with the reason WHY the horses mane had to be roached in the first place...he obviously wasn't being well cared for...that should upset the owners more than a cut mane. It'll grow back, that's the good thing about hair.Band tha mane, or get a mane tamer use some MTG, it'll be fine.

OMG get a life it will grow back

"His mane was brutally chopped off"?
There's no pain sensory in the horse's mane. Nothing about this is abusive....

aww i feel so bad I read ur description box tht was so sad!!! omg I hate who ever did tht to him!!
Well, no offense but when I read the description, I was expecting this majestic horse with thick, long mane reaching his breast and then it was devastatingly all hacked off. I mean, yeah he was stunning and breathtaking with his mane and all, but firstly, it wasn't really THAT long, and I think Arabs do on hell of a job looking magnificent no matter what the circumstance.

His mane was down to his chest, but I couldn't find any recent pictures that showed his mane. It wasn't until recently that I finally dug some up.

Gottagirl33, To some extent I can understand your frustration/anger over your horse's mane but far better the mane was cut than your horse might have been HURT by this guy! You still have a beautiful horse. Many of us would LOVE to own a horse but cannot. Just give him lots of love and attention. That's what's important.

Yeah, you're right. I'm very grateful that Joe wasn't hurt.
He's still a beautiful horse and always will be, and my anger isn't just because his mane's shorter. It's because of the type of person who did it, why he did it, and how little it meant to him. It would be like someone babysitting a young child and chopping their hair off in a most brutal fashion because they got gum in it.
But anyway, I'll probably take the video off soon; Joe's mane will look better by Christmas. ;-)

Thank you, for those of you who support me or at least understand. The mane and tail make a lot of the horse's appearance.

We had to leave Joe, because we live overseas. It's too expensive to bring him over here, so we leave him with friends and family.
And by the way, I don't really think anyone's understanding what's happening here. The mane is a big deal, because Joe was very beautiful with it. When someone just chops it off, it takes YEARS, people, YEARS to grow back.
